C. In Capernaum after the 2nd trip to Jerusalem

 1. Jesus IS the bread of life

  • John 6:22-40 See PerJohn2 B.1.

 2. Jesus claimed that his flesh should be "eaten" & his blood "drunk"

  • John 6:41-59 See PerJohn2 C.1.

 3A centurion's faith; his servant's healing [8] (5th pt.) above

  • Matt 8:5-13 When Jesus had re-entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, asking for help. Lord, He said, My servant lies at home paralyzed & in terrible suffering. Jesus said to Him, I will go & heal him. The centurion replied, Lord, I do not deserve to have You come under My roof. But just say the word, & My servant will be healed. For I myself also am a man under authority, with soldiers ["disciples"] under Me. I tell this 1, 'Go,' & he goes; & that 1, 'Come,' & he comes. I say to My servant, 'Do this,' & he does it. When Jesus heard this, He was astonished & said to those following Him, I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in all Israel with such great faith. I say to you that many will come from the east & the west, & will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac & Jacob in the Kingdom of HEAVEN. But the subjects [slaves-- those not set free to be a cloud of witnesses] of the KINGDOM will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping & gnashing of teeth. Then Jesus said to the centurion, Go! It will be done just as You believed it would. And His servant was healed at that very hour.
  • Luke 7:1-10 When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, He re-entered Capernaum. There a centurion's servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick & about to die. The centurion heard of Jesus & sent some elders of the Jews to Him, asking Him to come & heal His servant. When They came to Jesus, They pleaded earnestly with Him, This man deserves to have You do this, because He loves Our nation & has built Our synagogue. So Jesus went with Them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to Him: Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have You come under My roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy in the 1st place to come to You. But say the word, & My servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under Me. I tell this 1, 'Go,' & he goes; & that 1, 'Come,' & he comes. I say to My servant, 'Do this," & he does it. When Jesus heard this, He was amazed at Him, & turning to the crowd following Him, He said, I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel. Then the men who had been sent returned to the house & found the servant well.
