PSALM 17

Psa 17:1-15 A prayer; written when David was being persecuted by Saul. Said to: address being threatened & trapped; provide answers, hope, money, prayer & protection:
Hear, O LORD (YAHWEH), My righteous plea (justice); listen to My cry. Give ear to My prayer-- it does not rise from deceitful lips. May My vindication come from YOU; may YOUR Eyes see what is right. Though YOU probe My heart & examine Me at night, though YOU test Me, YOU will find nothing; I have resolved that My heart will not sin. As for the deeds of men-- by the words of YOUR Lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent. My steps have held to YOUR Paths; (so that) My feet have not slipped (moved). I call on YOU, O GOD (Mighty ONE), for YOU will answer Me; give ear to Me & hear My prayer.
Show the wonder of YOUR Great Love, YOU who save by YOUR Right Hand [see PSALM 48 Psa] those who take refuge in YOU from Their foes. Keep Me as the apple of YOUR Eye; hide Me in the shadow of YOUR Wings from the wicked who assail Me, from My mortal enemies who surround Me. They close up their callous hearts, & their mouths speak with arrogance. They have tracked Me down, they now surround Me, with eyes alert, to throw Me to the ground. They are like a lion hungry for prey, like a great lion crouching in cover. Rise up, O LORD (YAHWEH), confront them (prevent their face), bring them down; rescue Me from the wicked by YOUR Sword. O LORD (YAHWEH), by YOUR Hand save Me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this life.
YOU still the hunger of Those YOU cherish; Their sons have plenty, & They store up wealth for Their children. And I-- in righteousness I will see YOUR Face; when I awake I will be satisfied with seeing YOUR Likeness.

John <1> 14:25-27 <2> 15:25-27 <3> 16:8-13,32-33 <4> 17:1-5 <1> All this I have spoken [often in parables] while still with You. But the counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the FATHER (PATARE) will send in MY Name, will teach You all things & will remind You of everything I have said to You. Peace I will leave with You. Do not let Your hearts be troubled & do not be afraid. <2> This is to fulfill what is written (Psa 35:19; 69:4) in Their laws: 'They hated Me without reason.' When the counselor comes, He will testify about Me. And You also must testify, for You have been with Me from the beginning of my ministry. <3> When He [the counselor] comes, He will convict (convince) the world of guilt (expose the guilt of the world) in regard to sin & righteousness & judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in Me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the FATHER (PATARE), where You can see Me no longer; & in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned; the spirit of truth will guide You into all truth. He will not speak on His own: He will speak only what He hears, & He will tell You what is yet to come. A time is coming, & has come, when You will be scattered, each to His own home. You will leave Me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for My FATHER (PATARE) is with Me. I have told You these things, so that in ME You might have peace. In this world You will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. <4> FATHER (PATARE), the time has come. Glorify YOUR Son, that YOUR Son may glorify YOU. For YOU granted Him authority over all people; I have brought YOU glory on earth by completing the work YOU gave Me to do. And now, FATHER (PATARE), glorify Me in YOUR Presence (Facing) with the glory I had with YOU before the world began. In a fashion, this last sentence could be our death-bed prayer-- And now, FATHER, glorify Me-- as YOU 1st loved Me, so I have striven to love YOU. Of course the original could not be said-- that's absurd, as we had no glory with God before we were born. This is mentioned in order to point out that we might only derive some degree of glory, depending on what we did as Christians-- the mansion prepared for us might be in the suburbs of the eternal city, depending on such things as the treasure laid up in Heaven (the degree to which we enabled him to do his will on earth as it is in Heaven).
