PSALM 12 (with cross references & topics)
Psa 12:1-8 A psalm for the director of music (chief musician); sheminith (an octave lower); see PART II H.3.3rd pt. (ref. sheminith). Said to: address being alone, confused & insecure; deal with lies & poverty:
Help (Save), LORD (YAHWEH), for the godly (faithful) are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men. Everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception. May the LORD (YAHWEH) cut off all flattering lips & every boastful (great) tongue that says, 'We will triumph with our tongues; we own our lips (our lips are plowshares)-- who is our master?'
Because of the oppression of the weak & the groaning of the needy, I will now arise, says the LORD (YAHWEH), I will protect them from those who malign (trap) them.
And the Words of the LORD (YAHWEH) are flawless, like silver refined in clay, purified 7 times. O LORD (YAHWEH), YOU will keep Us safe & protect Us from such people forever. The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Isa <1> 6:1,5,8-13 <2> 8:19 <3> 9:1-3 <4> 10:5-7,10-11,20-22 <5> 12:1-2 <6> 17:12-14 <7> 24:1,4-8,15-16 <8> 28:7,9,11,13,15-17 <9> 29:11-14 <1> In the year that king Uzziah [the 10th king of Judah] died, I [Isaiah-- Amos & Hosea had already warned Israel] saw the LORD (Authoritative ONE). 'Woe to Me!' I cried. I am ruined (cut off)! For I am a man of unclean lips, & My eyes have seen the KING, the LORD Almighty (Commander YAHWEH).' Then I heard the Voice of the LORD (Authoritative ONE) saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for US? And I said, Here am I (Behold Me). Send Me! HE said, Go & tell this people, 'Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.' Make the heart of this people calloused. According to some sources, God was just telling Isaiah to comment: "You always hear, but never understand, etc." I.e., he wasn't ordering his prophet, "Make them that way." Then I said, For how long, LORD (Authoritative ONE)? Until the cities be ruined & without inhabitant, until the LORD (YAHWEH) has sent everyone far away. Near prophecy And though a 10th remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth & oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed (stock; stem) will be the stump in the land. EOP Later we see this 10th, the stump, leaving & multiplying, & just a remnant returning. <2> When men tell you to consult mediums (those with powers of ventriloquism) & spiritualists, who whisper & mutter, should not a people inquire of their GOD (Majestic ONE)? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? <3> Distant prophecy Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. Texted in green is what is quoted in Matt 4:15-16 (see Min'tryBegins C.5.): In the past HE humbled the land of Zebulun & the land of Naphtali-- part of the kingdom of Israel, the people of which were replaced by Assyrians, etc., but in the future HE will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan-- The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death (darkness) a light has dawned. YOU have enlarged the nation & increased their joy they rejoice before YOU as people rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when dividing the plunder. EOP <4> Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of MY Anger, in whose hand is the club of MY Wrath! I send him against a godless (unfaithful) nation [Israel], I dispatch him against a people who anger ME. But this is not what he intends. He [the Assyrian] says, 'As my hand seized the kingdoms of the idols, kingdoms whose images excelled those of Jerusalem & Samaria-- shall I not deal with Jerusalem & her images as I dealt with Samaria & her idols.' Far Distant prophecy
In that day the remnant (shear-jashub-- descendants of the stump) of Israel, the survivors of the house of Jacob, will no longer rely on him who struck Them down, but will truly rely on the LORD (YAHWEH), the Holy (Set Apart) ONE of Israel. A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob will return to the Mighty GOD (ONE); only a remnant will return. <5> Still Far Distant prophecy In that day You will say,

David a Prophet Per Acts David has no book that he authored-- if he had, it may/may not have been placed among the major/minor prophetic books. For it's not even recorded 1x in the O.T. that he was a prophet, but we shall see below that it was specified so in Acts. Actually, it's pretty obvious as you read through the 76 psalms he wrote (listed in PerspectivesB B.1.b.). Of the 12 psalms we've seen thus far, David authored Psa 2 - 9; 11 - 12, but the best example thus far of David leaping into prophecy was Psa 2, where we saw: Distant & Far Distant prophecies Ask of ME, & I will make the nations Your distant inheritance, the ends of the earth YOUR far distant Possession. YOU will rule them with an iron scepter (break them with a rod of iron); YOU will dash them to pieces like pottery. EOP Covered beginning in PART II E. were the matters of prophets & seers; seers were assigned by kings to prophecy specifically for the kings-- that was their office. David's seer was Gad (2ndSa 24:11; 1stCh 21:9; 2ndCh 29:25). BTW, the Bible we have, as large as it is, is not the full record; 1stCh 29:29 says As for the events of King David's reign, from the beginning to the end, they are written in the records of Samuel the seer, the records of Nathan the prophet & the records of Gad the seer, together with the details of his reign & power, & the circumstances that surrounded him & Israel & the kingdoms of the other lands. But we have in Acts 2:25-30, sev. verses of Peter quoting Psa 16:8-11 (all texted in grape, but the underlined portion is also from Acts 13:35). Peter quoting David, who was prophesying of Jesus yet up-there, descended, & ascended, I saw the LORD always before ME. Because HE is always at MY Right Hand, I will not then be shaken. Therefore always MY/My/MY heart is glad & MY/My/MY tongue rejoices; My body also will then live in hope, because YOU will not abandon Me to the grave, nor will YOU let YOUR Holy One see decay. YOU have already made known to ME the paths of life; YOU will always fill ME/Me/ME with joy in YOUR Presence. Peter now just speaking, 'Brothers, I can tell You confidently that the patriarch David died & was buried, & His tomb is here to this day. But He was a prophet & knew that GOD had promised that HE would place 1 of his descendants on HIS throne-- he placed his own son Solomon on David's throne, but recall that Jesus was a descendant of David 28 generations after David (see Matt 1:6-17).'
