Chapter 1 Jude (brother of Jesus & James) writing

Salutation: Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ & a brother of James. To Those who have been called, who are loved by GOD the FATHER & kept by Jesus Christ{XXII 4.}: Mercy, peace & love be Yours in abundance{XXII 3.}.

Before we begin, let me point out that only the contemporary (N.T.) false prophets & false teachers were discussed in 2nd & 3rdPet-- though I did point out that Jesus said, the fathers spoke well of the O.T. prophets. It was pointed out that there was a vast difference between the false teachers & the false prophets-- that the bought with a price false teachers would be punished by blackest darkness for the remainder of the Day of the LORD, until the coming of the 1st resurrection (& I pointed out that Reve 20 says those that experience the 1st resurrection will repent & not experience the 2nd death). But here we have the false prophets of the O.T. being mentioned, by way of pointing out their fate is the same as the N.T. false prophets & antichrists-- eternal hellfire & brimstone judgment (the 2nd death) in the Day of GOD. Now I'm adding this in later-- because that the false teachers will be removed from the blackest darkness has been evident for a while (for recall that Reve 20 says that those who participate in the 1st resurrection will not experience the 2nd death. But toward the end of Jude (below) we see snatch others from the fire & save them!

• Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to You about the salvation We share, I felt I had to write & urge You to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints-- so that we would be reminded. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among You just as Jesus said they would. They are godless men, who change the Grace of GOD into a license for immorality & deny Jesus Christ Our only Sovereign & LORD.
• Though You already know all this, I want to remind You that in O.T. times the LORD delivered HIS People out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their position of authority but abandoned their own home-- these HE has kept in darkness bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the Great Day of GOD. In a similar way, Sodom & Gomorrah & the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality & perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
• In the very same way today these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority & slander celestial beings. But even then the good archangel Michael, when He was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him the devil, but said merely, "the LORD rebuke you!" The rationale for the archangel not bringing a slanderous accusation against the devil likely is that its not an angel's duty to judge-- but it makes it more understandable that we should snatch others from the fire (as we see below). Yet today these men [dreamers] speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; & what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals-- these words are the very things that turn around & bite & destroy them. Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain who killed Abel; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error-- recall we saw about that recently, about how his donkey spoke to him & saved his butt; they have been destroyed like as in Korah's rebellion. This rebellion is chronicled in Num 16-- some things of note: originally God had specified all Levites (descendants of Levi) to be in charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony (Num 1:50), & then assigned the sons of a particular descendant, Aaron, to serve as priests (Num 3:10). Then God had the Levites to do Their work at the Tent of Meeting under the supervision of Aaron & His sons (Num 8:6,15-16). This rankled some (250 men), who claimed, The whole community is holy; why do You set yourselves up (Num 16:3). The earth swallowed them & their households; fire consumed the 250 men (Num 16:32,35). But that's not the end-of-story-- the next day the whole Israelite community grumbled, starting a plague in which 14,700 people died (Num 16:41,49).
• Back to the present: These men are blemishes at Your love feasts, eating with You without the slightest qualm-- shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit & uprooted --2x dead. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackest darkness has been reserved forever. Whenever we assemble together, present are the good angels. This is what we saw in Hebr 12:22, You have come to Mt. Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the Living GOD; to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly. And Reve 5:11 puts it this way, I looked & heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands; they encircled the throne & the yet living creatures & the elders.
• Long time ago: Enoch, the 7th from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See, the LORD is coming with thousands upon thousands of HIS Holy Ones to judge everyone, & convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, & of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against HIM." These men are grumblers & faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves & flatter others for their own advantage.

But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of Our LORD Jesus Christ foretold. They said to You. "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." These are the men who divide You, who follow mere natural instincts & do not have the Spirit. But You, dear friends, build yourselves up in Your most holy faith & pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in GOD's Love as You wait for the Mercy of Our LORD Jesus Christ to bring You to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt{XXII 2.}; snatch others from the fire & save them{XXII 1.}; to others show mercy mixed with fear-- hating even the clothes stained by corrupted flesh. To HIM who is able to keep You from falling & to present You before HIS Glorious Presence without fault & with great joy-- to the only GOD & Savior be glory, majesty, power & authority, through Jesus Christ Our LORD, before all ages, now & forevermore! Amen.
